Manchester Marathon returns to Gorse Hill

Sunday 10th October and it’s a new route

The runners have usually got through Gorse Hill early on in the race but this time they’re going into the City Centre before coming into Gorse Hill at about the nine mile mark, so there’ll be considerably more spread along Chester Road.

Road Closures

The organisers are yet to publish full details of the road closures but we do know it will be an elongated start. We particularly need to know details of Chester Road closures, whether full or partial.

Regardless of the fine detail, it’s inevitable that getting to Stretford, Chorlton, Sale and Altrincham by car will be difficult on that day. The race finishes on Talbot Road outside UA92 so, it looks like the Talbot Road/Warwick Road junction will be closed throughout.

Volunteers

The organisers are currently actively recruiting volunteers to support the event in a number of roles on event day and help create an amazing festival atmosphere. Local clubs, organisations or individuals who would enjoy being part of the action in a volunteer role, can email volunteers@humanrace.co.uk. In reward for groups’ valuable time and support, they offer an incentive donation of up to £40 per person volunteering which goes directly back to supporting their local cause.
