Gym application for Tesco’s unused Mezzanine floor

The Proposal

The application seeks planning permission for the change of use of the whole of the mezzanine floor at the Tesco Extra store from class A1 (retail) to class D2 (Assembly and Leisure) to enable the occupation of the unit by NRG Gym Ltd to operate a 24-hour gymnasium.

The proposed gym will be contained on the second-floor mezzanine level and have independent access from existing lifts and stairs at ground floor level in the north eastern corner of the existing supermarket. There is no direct access from the existing retail floor of the Tesco store to the mezzanine level and both operations will run independently.
